A new exploitation strategy is needed to run kernel ROP chains because an exploiters now needs to get his kernel ROP chain inside kernel memory to be executed. Using pure JOP logic would be long because of the need to find good instructions gadgets, and would vary a lot from a FW version to another. The strategy chosen is thread-safe and calling-convention aware, but most importantly pivot-less.
Every iteration runs a function prolog followed by a branch. This pushes lots of stack frames on stack, padding RSP. We overwrite all fake frames but one with ROP. Memcpy will return into our first gadget, kickstarting the chain. At tail end of chain we just return into matching function epilog to resume clean execution by popping the one untouched frame.
This way the thread's CPU core will not run other kernel code during kernel ROP execution, and other cores have no way of detecting the stack pivot, so the mitigation is defeated. I have 3 accounts on the console and we have been happily gaming away with just the 1 subscription to cover all, but now it seems since the update I will have to shell out 3 x soon to be 4 x the amount of money for online access, which is funny because I already pay an IP each month for this.

If your like me , most people when setting up a profile for their child thought thye could change the settings at any time and get to the parental controls at a later date , and just set them up to get going. Same problem. Contoller fisconnects every couple minutes whether im direct connected or not. Playstations pretty much useless as of now until a fix comes out. Soooo annoying!! The update is MB. The biggest new feature is Play Time Management. This is a feature aimed at parents looking to keep young kids' play time to a reasonable level. Parents or guardians can log on to either the PS4 or the PlayStation website and track how long their children are playing video games.
It will be possible to restrict children to only play for a certain length of time, or even to only be accessible during a specific window of time during the day. Notifications will be given to children to let them know if it's time to save and quit before getting kicked off.
